This month we are working on our alfabeto.  We learned the Spanish Alphabet Marching song.  Click here to view and practice at home:  El Alfabeto.  We continued to make up words mixing out consonants and vowels.  We put on some puppet shows and introduced a new conversation phrase that is super important:  "¿Quieres jugar?"  This means "Do you want to play?"  The response is, "¡Sí! ¡Vámanos!" which means, "Yes!  Let's go!"  Next week, our last week in noviembre (months are not capitalized in Spanish), we will focus on a Spanish Thanksgiving!

We will continue to learn our vowels, focus on "anaranjado" and our animales.  We will also explore "calabazas" and learn a new poem called "Cinco Calabazas".

Week of 6 October

We practiced our vocales (vowels) playing the "Ba" "Beh" "Bee" "Bo" "BO!" game.  We started to make our animal cards.

Week of 13 October

We played "Guerra" (War) with a deck of cards using numbers 1-9.  We played "Memoria" with our animal cards as well as "Snap".

Week of 20 October

We acted out the poem "Cinco Calabazas" and students made fingerprint calabazas on their poem to take home.  Some students pretended to be "el viento", others were in charge of the "luces"  others were the calabazas and the bujos.  Most classes read:  "Soy una Hoja"  (I am a Leaf) while other classes read "Spot Va a la Granja".

Our amigos "Pájaro Verde" and "Pájaro Anaranjado" came out to talk with the students, and students got to use the finger puppets to practice their conversations.

septiembre 2014

We reviewed all of the colors and read "Gato Galano".  We did several coloring pages.  The students followed all of the directions in Spanish choosing the correct color and using that color for each picture on the pages.

We also started to learn our animals.  Students will play memory and answer lots of questions in Spanish about the animals over the next couple of weeks.  We will play Pictionary as well using our new animal cards.

Finally, We started to learn all of our vowels.  "Ah"  "Eh"  "EE"  "Oh"  "Uuuuuu"
